Dr. Howard Weeks

Dr. Howard R. Weeks is the Chief Medical Officer at Behavioral Health Solutions

He earned his MD from Duke University and completed a Triple Board residency in Pediatrics, Adult Psychiatry, and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Utah. He is Board Certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Adult Psychiatry, and Clinical Informatics, and holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee. He has been awarded the distinction of being a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

An Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Utah Huntsman Mental Health Institute, Dr. Weeks specializes in health care quality outcomes, treatment-resistant mood disorders and expansion of access to care. His academic research emphasizes healthcare efficiency and Patient Reported Outcomes, supported by numerous publications in clinical care and quality improvement.

He is active in national professional societies including the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry, American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, American Psychiatric Association and the American Medical Association. He has been instrumental in working closely with state agencies and legislative bodies in his role as former President of the Utah Medical Association and the Utah Psychiatric Association to advocate for access to high-quality behavioral health care.

Prior to joining us, Dr. Weeks spent nearly 25 years at the University of Utah Huntsman Mental Health Institute where he was a Professor of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and held appointments in the Departments of Anesthesia and Population Health Studies. During his career he held many leadership roles including Division Chief of Child Psychiatry. He was the Chief Medical Information Officer for the University of Utah and served as the Chief Medical Officer for University of Utah Health Plans. He founded the Comprehensive Assessment and Treatment Program and directed several residential treatment care programs. Passionate about improving mental health outcomes, Dr. Weeks is committed to advancing the field through innovative treatments and a focus on holistic patient care.
